WISCASSET — Lanee Barnes, 42, of Gardiner Road died Sunday, May 13, at her residence.

She was born in Portsmouth, Va., Dec. 6, 1969, the daughter of Walter and Larraine Felscher Jr.

She graduated from Gardiner High School in 1988, where she was on the swim team. She also graduated from Pennsylvania Flight Attendant School in Pittsburgh. On Aug. 7, 1999, she married Shawn Barnes. She was a coach for the Wiscasset Community Center and helped at the family restaurant. She was employed as a police officer in Hallowell, a crisis management training coordinator for NAMI and a lifeguard at Reid State Park. Lanee also spent time working as private security for dignitaries including former President Clinton.

She enjoyed shopping, shoes, swimming, scuba diving, hunting with her family, scrapbooking and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Shawn Barnes of Wiscasset; one son, Ridge Barnes of Wiscasset; her mother, Larraine Van Veen and her husband, Francis, of Duncan, S.C.; her sister, Mary Elizabeth Collier and her husband, Linn, of Seabrook, Texas; stepbrother, Andy Van Veen of Omaha, Neb.; half brother, Walter Felscher III of Mississippi; stepsister, Karyn Cox of Charlotte, N.C.; and father-in-law, William W. Barnes of Wiscasset.

She was predeceased by her father, Walter Cheney Felscher Jr., January 1991; and her son, Gauge Michael Barnes, Oct. 29, 2009.
