NORWAY — On Sunday, May 20, from noon to 4 p.m., Fare Share Co-op will celebrate the launch of its new website with online ordering for store pick-up, and the rearrangement of the store to better highlight Fare Share’s strengths, including a wide array of bulk, local and Maine products. The new arrangement will also make it possible to include more local, Maine and Fair Trade crafts for sale.

The celebration will include discounts for all who purchase products on that day, and will include music, food and the opportunity to participate in interactive activities to improve on the work Fare Share does in the community.

Following the celebration, the Annual Meeting will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Commons. Board President Mary Ann Haxton describes the meeting as a “community conversation among Fare Share member-owners. We will share ideas about Fare Share’s future, and begin to make concrete plans.”

Wendy Allen of West Paris will facilitate an “Open Space” process to elicit ideas and passions. For example, many of Fare Share’s 150 member-owners are concerned about how Fare Share can best respond to the goal to support a local food system, or the issue of genetic engineering of food, how to be resilient in these changing times, or even what produce should be stocked in the walk-in cooler. All are invited to bring their ideas.

The website designed by Zizi Vlaun is colorful, informative and interactive. “Our member-owners will be able to order online, and stop in the store to pick up their order,” said Claire Gelinas, general manager.
