SUMMERFIELD, Fla. — Beverly J. MacHardy, 79, died May 21, in Summerfield, Fla.

She was born Feb. 9, 1933, in Gardiner, a 1951 Cony High School graduate, Augusta. She went to school in Boston, Mass., where she met her future husband, Jack, who was attending Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in Boston. Bev graduated from Hickox Secretarial School in 1953, and married Jack in 1954, in Fort Hood, Texas.

Jack and she bought a pharmacy in Mechanic Falls in 1958, and ran it for 30 years, with the help of their girls while they were in high school. After the couple retired in 1998, they moved to Spruce Creek Golf and Country Club in Summerfield, Fla.

Bev belonged to the Red Hat Society and Summit Springs Golf Club in Poland for many years and she and Jack were very active with golf and many social activities at Spruce Creek.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, John “Jack” W. MacHardy of Summerfield, Fla.; daughters, Sandra (David) Bressette of Lexington, S.C., and Julie (Steve) Andrews-Kirby of Maui, Hawaii; grandchildren, Mark Bressette of the U.S. Army, Kara Bressette of Columbia, S.C., Nathan Conner of Kenai, Ark., and Olivia Conner of Seattle, Wash.; brother-in-law, William (Judy) MacHardy of Durham, N.H.; nieces, Karen Grant and Kathy Feight; nephews, Scott MacHardy, William MacHardy and Raymond MacHardy; and many grandnieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Alvin M. Johnson and Virginia Carter Johnson; and sister, Barbara.
