BANGOR — Brian L. Cooley, 51, of Skowhegan passed away in the early morning hours of May 25, at Eastern Maine Medical Center.

He had suffered a heart attack five days before he died and never regained consciousness.

He was born August 12, 1960, in Skowhegan, the second son of Percy W. Annie (Lafland) Cooley.

He grew up in South Solon and graduated from Carrabec High School with the class of 1978.

Brian worked in various wood mills in and around the Solon area before attending barber school. Upon completion with high marks, he was selfemployed in this trade until health issues forced his retirement at a young age. During his years of barbering he enjoyed working as DJ at WKDJ under the name of “Big Daddy.”

After retiring, Brian found great passion in playing golf at Loon Cove Golf Course and truly enjoyed being with all of his regular golfing partners. He liked to play his guitar and sing, especially in church, volunteering at RRGH and working out at P.E.A.K. He was very well known in the community and had too many close friends to list.

Numerous folks from Brian’s church gave overwhelming support to his wife and family during his last days. Thank you Wanda, Yvonne, Michelle and Harmony to name just a few.

The family wishes to express a very special thanks to the Skowhegan Fire and Rescue for reviving Brian and to the staff at Redington-Fairview hospital in their attempts to stabilize him before sending him to EMMC. The staff at EMMC worked tirelessly in their efforts to help him survive, but it was not to be. They thank all of you so much.

Also, a very special thank you to Robert Bach at EMMC for praying with the family and granting Brian’s final request to be able to die with dignity. You are truly a miracle worker, Dr. Bach. God bless you.

Brian is survived by his ever-loving wife and perfect match, Jen; their ferocious dog, Roxi; his mother, Annie York of Solon, who was able to be with her son to the end; a sister, Linda of Clinton; two brothers, Greg and his wife, Lori, of Solon, and Steve of Bingham; a stepbrother, John York and his wife, Debbie, of Norridgewock; three nieces; a nephew; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; his entire church family who gave us all hope; owners of Loon Cove Golf Course who adopted Brian into the family, Vurle and Denise Jones.

Brian was predeceased by his father, Percy of Solon, and his stepfather, Colby York of Solon.
