Spruce Mountain 11, Carrabec 1 (5 inn.)
LIVERMORE FALLS —   Evan Castonguay and Eli Capen combined for a one-hitter Wednesday, allowing Spruce Mountain to close out its 2012 baseball schedule with a 11-1 rout over Carrabec.

Bill Calden smashed a three-run home run in the fourth to make it a 5-1 contest. Castonguay worked the first three frames while the Phoenix (11-5) built a 2-0 advantage. Ben Keene belted a two-run triple in a huge six-run fifth inning.

Brandon Hodges pounded out three hits and had two RBIs for Spruce Mountain, while Gavin Jones and Kyle Souther each had two hits in a well-balanced attack.

Lewiston 2, Hampden 0
LEWISTON —  Corbin Hyde took a no-hitter into in the seventh inning as Lewiston wrapped up its season with a 2-0 KVAC win over Hampden.

Hyde struck out 12 and had no walks for the Blue Devils (13-3), allowing the lone hit with two out in the final frame.

Matt Bowen belted an RBI single in the first, while Shawn Ricker scored on a groundout to the shortstop.

Matt Palmer went the distance for Hampden and was tagged with the loss.

Oceanside 3, Leavitt 2
ROCKLAND —   Two unearned runs in the second inning cost Leavitt dearly Wednesday, as the Hornets were defeated 3-2 by Oceanside in a KVAC baseball regular-season finale. 

Dylan Maloney was effective on both sides for Oceanside (8-8), scattering five hits and poudning out two hits of his own. Dan Hendricks also contributed with an RBI double.

Tim Dow and Cody Craig had two hits apiece for the Hornets (9-7). Josh Bunker pitched the complete game.

Mountain Valley 3, Mt. Abram 2
SALEM —  Ryan Nicols belted a two-run single to plate the tying and winning runs as Mountain Valley edged Mt. Abram 3-2 in MVC baseball Wednesday.

The Falcons (7-8) trailed by one after three frames before tying the contest at 1-1 in the fourth. Nicols smacked his key hit in the fifth inning to seal the deal. Adam Volkernick also contributed with an RBI triple for Mountain Valley.

Brunswick 7, Mt. Blue 3

FARMINGTON — Brunswick scored three pivotal unearned runs in the fourth inning and grabbed a 7-3 win over Mt. Blue in KVAC baseball action Wednesday.

Garrett Erb provided a solo home run for the Dragons (3-13).

Matt Crowley recorded a double for the Cougars (6-10), who were held to three hits.

Oak Hill 13, Lincoln 1

WALES — Jon Averill and Brian Daniels each had three goals and Caleb Provost and Trever Samson added two apiece Wednesday, propelling Oak Hill to a 13-1 KVAC boys’ lacrosse victory over Lincoln.

Averill also dished out three assists for the Raiders. Tanner Field notched the Eagles’ lone goal.

Lewiston 10, Cony 4
AUGUSTA —  Max Bolduc registered a hat trick Wednesday to lead Lewiston to a 10-4 victory over Cony in a KVAC boys’ lacrosse matchup.

Tanner Hubbard and Matt Melanson chipped in for the Blue Devils (6-6) with two goals apiece, while single tallies by Eric Michaud, Chris Johnson and Riley Bolduc completed the scoring.

The Rams (3-9) received goals from Derek Elvin, John Bennett, Ryan Sounder and Mike Luber. Tom Lepage (three saves) and Andrew Gaumont (one save) handled netkeeping duties for Lewiston in a solid combined effort.
