Grant enables dance classes

NORWAY — Variant Jazz Dance classes will be held with Debi Irons at Art Moves Dance Studio this summer as part of the PEP Grant Oxford Hills has received to improve health and fitness.

Sign-ups for ages 11 to 19 will be held Saturdays, June 9 and 16, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Art Moves Dance Studio, 13 Cottage St. Actual class days and times will be determined after sign-ups, and will go through July.

Historical society to elect

WATERFORD — The first meeting of the 2012 season for the Waterford Historical Society will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at the Old Town House next to the town beach on Keoka Lake. It is the annual meeting with election of trustees. Potluck refreshments follow the meeting.

The program for the the evening is about local photographer Fred Johnson, who took many glass plate shots of the Waterford area at the turn of the 20th century. The WHS has recently acquired his glass plates and it is interesting to see what Waterford looked like around 1910. A 2013 calendar featuring Fred Johnson photos will be for sale.

RSU 10 retirees

BUCKFIELD — There will be an open house reception for retirees from the Nezinscot Valley Region of RSU 10, including Buckfield Jr/Sr High School and Hartford Sumner Elementary School. All alumni and members of the community, as well as current and former employees and board members, are invited to attend a year-end reception at Buckfield Jr/Sr High School Cafeteria on Thursday, June 14, between 1 and 3 p.m.

The community is invited to stop in to visit and honor retirees and others leaving the region. This year’s retirees include Lynda Bell, Marilyn Chesley, Judy Drury, Alice Flagg, Kay Herbert, Deb Litchfield and Cynthia Norton.

Swim lesson registration

BRIDGTON — Registration forms are out for summer swimming lessons at Bridgton Recreation Department. Lessons consist of two three-week sessions, the first running from June 25-July 13 and the second from July 23-Aug. 10. The deadline for the first session’s sign-ups is Friday, June 15. Forms can be found at and submitted to the Bridgton Town Office.
