LIVERMORE FALLS/JAY – Police in both towns are reporting items taken from unlocked motor vehicles over the past five days and most in the same area of the towns.

In Livermore Falls, more than $2,000 worth of property was taken, including a substantial amount of cash, police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said Monday. Burglary reports started coming in early Thursday, he said.

Someone entered a vehicle on Highland Avenue in Livermore Falls. All that is believed to be missing is the key that was in the ignition, Steward said.

Two Garmin global position systems were stolen from a vehicle on Otis Street, he said. That was reported at 12:30 a.m. with the caller saying two kids had entered a vehicle.

A vehicle on nearby Prospect Street was reported entered Friday morning and prescription medication taken.

On Saturday morning, a wallet containing money and sunglasses were taken from a vehicle on Free Street. Not far from there, a wallet with money in it was taken from a vehicle on Knapp Street. Two vehicles were reported entered on Cargill Street. Police are waiting to find out what, if anything, was missing, Steward said.

And on Sunday, a vehicle on Church Street was entered and a GPS and camera were reported stolen.

In Jay, a caller reported late Saturday that a purse was taken from vehicle on Cross Street, Jay police Detective Richard Caton IV said Monday.

A caller reported Sunday that a vehicle on Elm Street was entered and a wallet, credit cards, military identification and a military knife were taken, he said.
