LEWISTON — Shirley Iva (Beal) Harmon, 76, formerly of Portland, passed away on Sunday, June 10, at Montello Manor, surrounded by her family, who adored her.

She was born Jan. 7, 1936, a daughter of Seward and Florence (Perkins) Beal. She enjoyed laughing; her laughter was infectious and will never be forgotten. Her strength and strong-willed personality will forever be admired. Shirley had a love of writing and her letters will forever be cherished.

She is survived by her eight children, Patricia Howes and her companion, Michael Jordan, of Canton, Geneva Libby and her husband, Jimmy, of Wales, Lynn Williams of Livermore Falls, Richard M. Leet of Lewiston, Danny Leet and his companion, Joyce Avery, of Lewiston, Alan Leet and his companion, Jackie Laflamme, of Lewiston, Raymond Leet and his wife, Karen, of Loganville, Ga., and Roy E. Leet of Warrren; her brother, Ellsworth Beal of Cape Elizabeth; and her best friend, “Bono” of Auburn. Shirley’s ability to find humor and view the world through the eyes of a child even later in life will continue to be part of her legacy passed on in her 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; son-in-law, Donald E. Williams; and her beloved husband, James R. Harmon.

Tributes and memories may be shared with her family on her memorial wall at www.wilesrc.com.
