SKOWHEGAN — A Maine mother of three is being credited with saving the life of a Massachusetts man and his daughter by pulling them from the deep waters of a Maine lake, as reported by the Morning Sentinel.
Renee Dostie of Clinton was at Lake George in Skowhegan on Thursday when she saw the child’s head bobbing up and down about 50 feet from shore. A woman started screaming that her daughter was in trouble.
The 30-year-old Dostie tells the Morning Sentinel she jumped in not even realizing there was also a man in the water.
She says the roughly 5-year-old girl was “freaking out” and pushing her father under trying to stay afloat. She hauled both to shore. The girl was fine, but 33-year-old Paul Borneman III of Nantucket, Mass. was taken to a hospital and held overnight.
