NORWAY — Curtis L. Whitman, 72, of Norway, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, Sept. 3, with his family nearby.

He was born Aug. 29, 1940, in Lewiston, the second son of Harlan L. and Frances E. (Hale) Whitman. He was a 1958 graduate of Norway High School and a 1962 graduate of Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute in South Portland in the machine tool technology program.

He worked at Maine Machine Products, South Paris, Clarostat, Norway and retired from Electro-Static Technologies in Mechanic Falls in 2006. He was a member of the Second Congregational Church in Norway, Small Woodland Owners of Maine and Oxford Hills Honey Bee Club.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elaine LeCours Whitman; a daughter, Kelly Riel and husband, Kip, of New Hampshire; a son, Blaine Whitman and companion, Lisa Webber; granddaughters, Marissa, Alexis and Shelby; and a brother, Kenneth.

He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Dana; his grandparents; a great-aunt; and an uncle.

As per his wishes, funeral and burial services will be private.
