AUBURN — Charlie Ray Voter of Rumford on Sept. 5, joined the keeper of the stars. Someone had a hand in all the lives who Charlie touched. He is in heaven smiling down on us as we look into the sky tonight. Let’s tip our hats to the newest keeper of the stars.

Charlie started his life on Aug. 4, 1950, born to his parents, Colin and Annie Voter. He grew up in the town of Peru with his five brothers and his twin sister. When he was a child, he enjoyed the good life of family, friends and baseball. He graduated from Stephens High School in 1968.

Most of you know Charlie as the Pepsi man, or the Tom’s chip man. He is also well-known for making the early morning coffee for customers at the Corner Store.

Charlie was a father of two sons, one daughter and one stepdaughter. He was Grampie to six grandsons, and Papa to two stepgrandsons. As you know, he had a very special bond with his stepgrandson, “Buster.”

On Sept. 6, 2003, Charlie married Paula at a special place in Cape Cod. Their special song was “Keeper of the Stars.”

Charlie is survived by his wife, Paula of Rumford; children, Patrick and his wife, Kathleen, of Sanford, Mandy and her husband, Jason, of Avondale, Ariz., Derek and wife, Cheryl, of Troy, N.Y., and stepdaughter, Jessica and her husband, Scott, of Mexico; brothers, Norman and companion, Donna of Dixfield, Colin and wife, Kathy, of Peru, Dexter and wife, Debbie, of Dover-Foxcroft and Merwyn of Mexico; sister, Charlene and husband, Archie Wing, of Peru; brothers-in-law, Steve, Jeff, Dan and his wife, Pat, and Kit and his wife, Kathy; his grandsons, Kendel, Cameron, Kevin, Kurtis, Andrew, Logan, Blaine and Kaleb; several nieces and nephews; and, of course, many friends.

He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Maurice; and mother-in-law, Yvonne Campbell.

Charlie is resting now thanks to the keeper of the stars.
