AUBURN — Bertrand L. Nadeau 83, of Ledgeview Cove, died Saturday at his home, with his family by his side.
Born in Lewiston, Sept. 20, 1928, a son of the late Donat and Claire Leriche Nadeau, he was educated in Auburn schools. He was married to the former Antonia Auger May 17, 1952. She died Jan. 3, 2007.
Prior to his retirement, he worked at Maine Baking Co., Alcide Gagnon the Painter and retired from New England Telephone Co. in 1990 after 18 years of service. Bert enjoyed fishing, traveling, car shopping, dining out, long rides and sitting by the lake.
Some of his memberships include Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish at Sacred Heart Church, Telephone Pioneers of America, president of Garcelon School PTA and Madison Street School PTA, Sacred Heart Church Golden Agers and Taylor Pond Association.
He will be remembered for being thrifty and enjoying watching his savings grow.
He is survived by a daughter, Irene Therriault and husband, Roger, of Auburn; sons, Donat and Sonya Nadeau of Minot, Richard and Emily Nadeau of Minot and Robert Nadeau of Auburn; a grandson, Lukas Nadeau; and two great-grandsons; two sisters, Sr. Pauline Nadeau of Canada and Germaine St. Pierre and husband, Roger, of Florida; brother, Marcel Nadeau of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, Normand Nadeau; three brothers, Raymond, Paul and Donald Nadeau.
A special thank-you to daughter Irene and son-in-law, Roger Therriault, for taking care of him in his own home in his final days. Thank you also to the staff of CMMC M4 and the staff of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, Drs. Condit and Fergurson.
