BETHEL — The Oxford County Democrats held their annual fundraiser at the Mill Hill Inn in Bethel on Aug. 26 and welcomed Maine Democratic Party chairman Ben Grant, vice-chair Janet Mills and Democratic National Committeeman Sen. Phil Bartlett as speakers.

Marianne Bratton-Davies of Congressman Michaud’s campaign presented greetings from the congressman. Assistant Democratic leader Rep. Terry Hayes presented the House and Senate candidates present including Sen. John Patrick; Dennise Whitley, candidate for State Senate district 13; Rep. Helen Rankin; Mike Broderick, candidate for District 91; and Mary Lou St. John, candidate for District 95.

County chairwoman Cathy Newell introduced Charleen Chase, candidate for County Commissioner in District 1, and Carol Gutekunst, candidate for Register of Probate. County Treasurer Roy Gedat and Newell spoke about remaining Democratic candidates for office including Cynthia Dill for U.S. Senate; Rep. Sheryl Briggs; Rep. Matt Peterson; Jane Rich, candidate for County Commissioner in District 2; Colin O’Neill, candidate in District 100; and Lisa Villa in District 98.

Newell reported on the activities at the field offices in Mexico and Norway during the summer and plans for the fall campaign. Offices are at 310 Main St., Norway, and 55 Main St., Mexico.
