PARIS — The town has received 50 applications for the position of town manager, according to Town Clerk Elizabeth Knox. Selectmen will spend the next week looking through them and picking the five best.

Knox said that as of Monday morning, the due date, she had seen 50 resumes. She said more may have come in during the afternoon.

In June, the board voted not to renew Town Manager Phil Tarr’s contract at the end of the year. Selectmen are negotiating a separation agreement with Tarr. Chairman Sam Elliot said Tarr and the board have come to an agreement, and that their attorneys are now looking it over.

On Sept. 19, selectmen will meet to pick out the best resumes. Selectman Bob Kirchherr said he’d already viewed them and had eight in mind that he said stood out.

Once selectmen pick the best candidates, they plan to schedule meetings in late September and early October. Kirchherr said the names of job candidates will remain confidential.
