WILTON — Maine State Police and local police will host a Tip A Cop night Friday, Sept. 21, to benefit the Law Enforcement Torch for Special Olympics.

The event will be held at 6 p.m. Calzolaio Pasta Co. in Wilton. 

Local law enforcement officers will assist the restaurant staff waiting tables for tips, all to benefit the Special Olympics of Maine. Tips given to the officers are above and beyond the normal tip given to the wait staff.

Tip A Cop events have proven to be an excellent way for local citizens to support the Special Olympics of Maine while getting to know their local law enforcement officers, Trooper Mathew Casavant, the event organizer, said.

Casavant thanked restaurant owners Tom and Rocell Marcellino for their continued support of Special Olympics. The Marcellinos have hosted numerous Tip A Cop events over the past eight years.
