AUBURN — Prescilla S. Labonte, 94, of Russell Park Manor, formerly of 608 College St., Lewiston, passed away Friday, Sept. 21, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice.

She was born in Lewiston, Aug. 29, 1918, daughter of the late Reginald and Alma Croteau Janelle. She was educated in Lewiston schools and was married Sept. 2, 1939, to Robert N. Labonte, who predeceased her Dec. 19, 1998.

Prescilla first worked as a spinner at the Continental Mill until its closing. She later worked at home sewing moccasins then worked in the kitchen at Bates College and later at Montello Manor as head of the kitchen then head of housekeeping.

She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and the Ladies of Ste. Anne Sodality and the YWCA, where she enjoyed swimming three times a week for many years. She also enjoyed the outdoors. She will be remembered as loving and enjoying children and could always be heard singing a song.

She is survived by two daughters, Cecile Provost and husband, Jean, of Greene and Jacqueline Caron and husband, Roger, of Lewiston; five grandchildren, Stephanie Bouchard and partner, Bruce Kaminski, Robert Bouchard, Jada and Amber Caron and Crystal (Josh) Blackwood; a great-grandson, Brennan Blackwood; three stepgrandchildren, Kim (Rick) Ducharme, Ann Provost and Lee (Nadine) Provost; six stepgreat-grandchildren, Damian and Bethany Provost, Tyler Hilliard, Cassie Steckino, Brock Poulin and Gwen Ducharme; one stepgreat-great-granddaughter, Alexis Provost; three sisters, Blanche Wilson of Lewiston, Therese Blouin and husband, Ronald, of San Diego, Calif., and Germaine Doyon of Auburn; a brother, Reginald Janelle Jr. and wife, Joanne, of Lewiston; a sister-in-law, Jeannine StHilaire; and three brothers-in-law, Chester Dulac, Fred Marquis and Frank Talarico.

She was predeceased by her father and mother-in-law, George and Ida Labonte; four sisters, Anne Marie Janelle, Eva Gagne, Elsie Sirois and Victoria Caron; five brothers, William, George, Adrien, Laureat and Laurier Janelle; and many loving sisters and brothers-in-law.
