LEWISTON — Paul E. Deschenes, 79, of 64 Scribner Blvd., died Sunday, Sept. 23, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, with his family by his side.

He was born in Lewiston, Feb. 10, 1933, a son of the late Phedime and Odelie Bernier Deschenes, he graduated from St. Dominic High School, Class of 1951. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard between 1952 and 1956.

Paul was employed as a sales person at Country Kitchen Bakery for 33 years, prior to his retirement in 1993. He was an avid fisherman; enjoyed snowmobiling, automobiles and NASCAR.

He will be remembered for his gregarious personality and his love of the company of his friends and family.

He is survived by his daughter, Mona Rioux and her husband, Gerard, of Lewiston; two grandsons, Paul Rioux and his wife, Tonia, of Sitka, Alaska, and Mark Rioux stationed at Sheppard AFB, Wichita Falls, Texas; and three great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother, Gerard Deschenes.
