Harvest Festival at Sumner church

SUMNER — Congregational Church of East Sumner will hold their Harvest Festival from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at 50 Main St. Christian Youth Music Competition at 11, Christian concert by One Faith Quartet at 1; produce, baked goods and activities all day, soups and hot dogs for lunch. Senior Social and luncheons

HARRISON — The senior socials and luncheons, sponsored and hosted by Town of Harrison Parks and Recreation, will once again be offered on the first Tuesday of each month beginning Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the community room next to the fire station.

This luncheon will feature homemade macaroni and cheese, garden salad, homemade apple crisp, juice, coffee or tea. The cost is $3 or donation. Those who don’t have time for socializing and games may join for the meal at noon. Word puzzles and bingo are always a favorite.

Be aware that these luncheons will be at the community room due to the fire at the church.

Paula is now accepting reservations for the Fa La La luncheon at the Stone Mt. Arts Center in Brownfield on Tuesday, Dec. 11. This is a special Christmas luncheon which includes a meal along with the showing of famous and heartwarming holiday movie clips from  favorite Christmas movies. Cost is $35, $25 for Harrison residents. Tickets are limited.

Girl Scout info meeting

OTISFIELD — Girl Scouts of Maine will host a parent information and registration meeting at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at Spurrs Corner Church.

Girls and adults are invited to attend the meeting to find out about the many different and fun ways today’s girls are participating in Girl Scouting and how the programs and activities inspire them to reach their personal best. Participants will also learn about the flexible options and benefits of becoming a Girl Scout volunteer.

Methodist Church roast pork supper

PARIS — A roast loin of pork supper will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Deering Memorial Methodist Church, 39 Main St. Dessert will be apple crisp and ice cream.

The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12. There is ample parking behind the Library and Town Office.

Library board has vacancy

PARIS — The Paris Public Library board of trustees has a vacancy. With the retirement of Karen Ellis, the board is seeking Paris citizens, at least 18 years old, to submit their names for consideration to join the board as it works towards having the library fulfill the community’s needs in the 21st century.

The library is overseen by a volunteer 11-member board of trustees, which meets in the evenings of the third Thursday of each month, excluding December and July. Trustees also assist with fundraisers for the library, especially the annual used book sale at the end of July.
