FARMINGTON — A workshop titled Creating Effective Signage for your Business is being offered Oct. 3 by the Farmington Downtown Association.

The session is from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3,  at Homestead Bakery. It’s followed by a walking tour from 12:30 to 1 p.m.

The workshop features architect Malcolm L. Collins from Freeport and Mike Monahan of Signworks, a local sign-maker with more than 40 years of experience.

Collins will draw from the National Trust for Historic Preservation Building Improvement File, which demonstrates effective signage using 13 principles of good design, placement and message.

The workshop is free to Downtown Association members and $20 for nonmembers.  To register for the workshop, contact Lisa Laflin, lisa@uwtva.org or 778-5048.

Participants may bring a bag lunch. A light dessert will be provided.
