LEWISTON — Marcel Eugene Martin, 85, of Lewiston, died Friday, Sept. 28, at Central Maine Medical Center, with his family by his side.

He was born in Lisbon, on March 11, 1927, the son of Frank and Irene Bourgoin Martin

He was educated locally and following high school he joined the Navy during World War II. Returning home, he worked at the Hill Mill while attending Bliss College. He graduated with an associate degree and then went to work at the Sun Journal.

He married the love of his life, Collette N. Bussiere, on July 25, 1952. They had four beautiful children, two sons and two daughters, to whom he devoted his life. Family was most important to him. Marcel enjoyed family gatherings, sports, traveling, gardening, taking care of his home, his dog, Brownie, and going special places with his grandchildren.

Marcel leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Collette N. Bussiere Martin of Lewiston; son, Robert Martin and his wife, Sharon, of Turner, son, James Martin and his wife, Jennifer, of Lewiston, daughter, Rachel Talarico of Lewiston, daughter, Diane Barrell and her husband, Jeff, of Auburn; one brother, Bert Martin and his wife, Irene, of Fayette; 10 grandchildren, Jessica Martin, Sarah Martin, Benjamin Martin, Leah Martin, Joshua Martin, Jenessa Talarico, Krista Barrell, Kasey Talarico, Jayson Martin and Jacob Barrell; two great-grandchildren, Karly Labbe and Natalie Fikus; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother and father; a sister, Jane Audet; brothers, Lucien and Paul Martin; a nephew, Dick Martin; and a son-in-law, Tony Talarico.
