BETHEL — Charleen Chase, the former CEO of Community Concepts, has announced she is seeking election for Oxford County commissioner.

She said town officials and residents have urged her to return to public service to initiate closer working relationships between the County Commission and its constituents — town governments, private sector organizations and county residents.

“If we are to move forward in a productive and positive way, we need to plan and pull together—and be less reactive,” she said.

In her 32 years with Community Concepts, she and her team received many state and national awards for development of program models designed and delivered at the community level. Her legacy of inclusive, long-range planning still characterizes the organization today.

Chase earned her education and business degrees from Thomas College.

She lived in Norway for many years and now lives in Bethel where she is active in the Senior College and with local recreation groups. She is a consultant in the public and private sectors, specializing in health care.

Charleen narrowly lost the 2008 race in a recount and hopes to be successful this in the upcoming Nov. 6 election. Her Facebook page can be found at www.facebook.com/electchase.
