NAPLES — Spruce Mountain exhibited its diversity on offense Friday night in a 35-6 Western Class B football victory over Lake Region.

Sophomore quarterback Peter Theriault completed touchdown passes to three different receivers. He also ran for a touchdown.

Deonte Ring caught a 53-yard score from Theriault, who found Austin Schmidt and Matt Vigue from 15 yards out.

Spruce Mountain (3-3) also blocked a punt for the second straight week, covering it in the end zone for a touchdown.

Lake Region dropped to 0-6.

Boothbay, 47, Winthrop 18

WINTHROP — Boothbay’s persistence with its Straight-T offense wore down Winthrop in the second half Friday night, leading to a 47-18 Western Class C football win for the Seahawks.

Winthrop trailed only 14-12 at the half. Jared Hanson connected with Dakota Carter and Mario Meucci for second-quarter touchdowns to keep the Ramblers in it.

Kameron Markee scored from 6 and yards out in the second quarter. Cormac Miller raced 63 yards for a score to get the Seahawks going in the third. Markee followed with a 15-yard TD catch from Nick Kilgus.

Miller had one of Boothbay’s three touchdown runs in the third quarter. Hanson completed another TD pass to Meucci to complete Winthrop’s scoring.

Winthrop receiver Drew Stratton was taken to a Lewiston hospital after being briefly knocked unconscious while attempting to make a catch. Stratton was conscious and had movement in his extremities, according to Ramblers coach Joel Stoneton.

Both teams are 2-4.
