AUBURN — The Fire Department will host an open house from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at its Central Station, 550 Minot Ave.

October is National Fire Prevention Month.

Papa Gino’s is teaming up with local fire departments to help educate the community on fire safety and prevention. For the past 18 years New England fire departments and Papa Gino’s have helped nearly 2 million people by supplying educational materials and free pizza at fire safety open houses.

Each year, fires claim hundreds of lives throughout New England. Fire safety open houses are geared toward educating the community and preparing for potential fires.

During the event, firefighters will demonstrate the way to escape a smoke-filled room and offer fire prevention tips, and Sparky, the fire safety mascot, will visit with children.
