RUMFORD — Performance artist Randy Judkins of Mexico, Maine, has entertained all over the state and New England, and in more than 25 U.S. states, Canada and Europe.

On Sunday, Oct. 21, the man renowned for his juggling, mime and character work, will present his full show, “Comedy with Character,” at 49 Franklin hall.

The one-man performance features multiple original characters, juggling, magic and playful audience participation.

Judkins has instructed at the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey’s Clown College in Florida. He has served as a character consultant for Tri-Star Pictures and a Circus of the Stars trainer in Hollywood. He has throughout the years appeared in a handful of  TV commercials and independent films.

The Juilliard School of Drama in New York City hired Judkins to teach a series of master classes in character and physical comedy. In 2010, he taught circus arts, mime and comedy as a visiting artist at Stephens College in Missouri. He ran the Beach to Beacon 10K Road Race while juggling three balls the entire 6.2 miles. He finished the race in under an hour without dropping a ball.

In 2002, he founded the comedy trio, the Maine Hysterical Society, whose Down East characters perform comical songs and sketches about Maine. In July of 2008, he performed with Lucie Arnaz at Birdland, the legendary Jazz Club in New York City. 

The “Comedy with Character” show will start at 7 p.m, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. for seating, social and pub food. Tickets are $12 at the door. Special advance tickets, $10, are available at All That Jazz and Bartash’s on Congress Street and at www.49franklin.com.

Judkins will present a workshop, “10 Performance Tips Every Human Should Know,” also on Oct. 21. Cost is $25, or $30 for both show and workshop. For more information, call 369-0129.
