MONMOUTH — Monmouth Community Players will bring Stephen Briggs’ hilarious adaptation of Sir Pratchett’s “Wyrd Sisters” to the Cumston Hall stage over Halloween weekend.

The show of intrigue, incantation and innuendo will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 26-27 and Nov. 2-3; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, and Nov. 4.

The Kingdom of Lancre is in trouble. Its king has died of natural causes – otherwise known as a dagger in the back – and the usurping Duke has an ambitious plan of modernizations to drag the place kicking and screaming into the Century of the Fruitbat.

Unbeknownst to him, however, a secret heir has been carried to safety, obviously destined to return on a white horse to reclaim his rightful crown.

And therein lies the rub … if only he were older than 3.

It’s going to take the combined magical efforts of witches Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg and Magrat Garlick to bend space and time to where his destiny has a sporting chance.

The show, directed by Mike Clements of Gardiner, has 31 characters and 23 scene changes. Cast members are Jeanne Fletcher of Monmouth as Granny Weatherwax, Doree Austin of Vassalboro as Nanny Ogg, Eliza Robbins of Whitefield as Magrat Garlick, Noel Thibodeau of Lewiston as the Duke, Victoria Machado of Lewiston as the Duchess and Jake Junkins of Freeport as the Fool.

Rounding out the cast are Harley Marshall, Mel Morrison, Wendi Richards, Andy Tolman, Cameron Gelder, Bruce Gerry, Michael V. Frett, Kerstin Schkrioba, Chase Tomberlin, Amanda Kinsey, Emily Trefethen, and Casey Griffin. Members of the production crew are Jodi Harvey, assistant director; Colleen Mahan, producer; Sarah Kaplan, stage manager; Hannah Davis, costumer; and Christine Heckman, props mistress.

Tickets are $12 adults/$10 seniors and students. Call 514-4929 or visit www.monmouthcommunityplayers.com. Cumston Hall is at 796 Main St.
