Buckfield Masons hold open house

BUCKFIELD — There will be an open house at the Buckfield Masonic Hall, 4 High St., on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The public is invited to visit, ask questions, tour the Lodge building and have a snack.

Driving Dynamics class at SAD 52

TURNER — A Maine Driving Dynamics will be held Saturday, Oct. 27, at SAD 52 Adult & Community Education.

This state sponsored five-hour defensive driving course offers all drivers the opportunity to improve their defensive driving abilities. On completion of the class, students receive a three-point credit on their driving record. Students 55 and older can receive an insurance discount.

Cribbage League winners listed

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Lewiston Memorial Armory on Oct. 11 were: first place, Mike Martin and Sonny Beaudoin; second place, Ron Jean and Gerry Therrien; third place, Val Asselin three player table; fourth place, Don Haley and Henry Maheux; fifth place, Lorraine Fillion and Ken Spooner.

Eastern Star meeting Oct. 18

LISBON FALLS — Pioneer Chapter No. 11 Lisbon Falls, Order of the Eastern Star, will be meeting on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. at the Ancient York Masonic Hall on Route 196.

The meeting will begin with an ESTARL supper at 6 p.m. Pine Cone Chapter No. 26 of Auburn and Lakeside Chapter No. 60 of Sabattus will be assisting with the supper. ESTARL is a scholarship program for students pursuing an education in religious leadership supported by the members of the Eastern Star. All members of the Order are invited to attend.

Masons to hold open house

Basketball drill registration open

AUBURN — Auburn-Lewiston YMCA has announced registration for its Skills and Drills Youth Basketball Program.

Skills and Drills is an instructional program for girls and boys designed to focus on the introduction and development of dribbling, passing and shooting,  through games and instruction. As the classes advance, organizers hope to incorporate defensive concepts and team play.

Session One for children ages 4 and 5 will take place Tuesdays or Thursdays from 4:15 to 5 p.m. Session Two is for children ages 5 and 6 and will run Tuesdays or Thursdays from 5 to 5:45 p.m. The program starts Oct. 23 and 25 and concludes Dec. 11 and 13.

Tuesday’s sessions run for eight weeks and cost $30 for members and $60 for nonmembers. Thursday’s sessions run for seven weeks and cost $26.25 for members and $52.50 for nonmembers.

Each class is limited to 18 kids, so register early. To register, come into the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA at 62 Turner St. Members can register online at www.alymca.org.
