LIVERMORE — Selectpersons agreed Monday to advertise for a municipal treasurer to fill the elective term of former Treasurer Cathy Lee through June 2014, the board’s administrative assistant, Kurt Schaub, said Tuesday.

Lee resigned from the position in October. She was elected for two years in June.

The part-time position is an interim appointment to complete the term of office, Schaub said. The time commitment for each week will be eight to 10 hours.

Applications are available at the Town Office at 10 Crash Road. They should be submitted to the Board of Selectpersons in a sealed envelope addressed to the board and should be marked confidential.

The applications are due back by 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19.

Schaub, the former treasurer who lost his bid for re-election to Lee, has been appointed interim treasurer until the board makes a decision on hiring a part-time treasurer. The board also unanimously approved that Schaub will be paid for 5½ hours at $15 per hour for treasurer work.

Schaub said he would not be involved in the board’s decision on a new treasurer.

Responsibilities for the part-time treasurer include the proper disbursement of municipal funds including payroll, general management of financial accounts, reconciliations and reporting, all in accordance with state law and governmental accounting principles, Schaub said.

The new treasurer will need considerable accounting or bookkeeping experience, including administrative responsibility, preferably in a public or governmental environment, relevant educational background, or a combination of experience and training, according to a job description.
