PARIS — A local woman was flown to Central Maine Medical Center on Friday after crashing her minivan on Oxford Street.
Cherity Carleton, 34, was complaining of soreness and pain in her chest and arm and was disoriented after the crash, according to officer Alan Carr of the Paris Police Department.
Carr said Carleton was driving her 1999 Dodge Caravan east on Oxford Street at about 2 p.m. when she was distracted and drifted across the center line. Carleton over-corrected and hit soft sand on the side of the road, Carr said, then hit a high embankment that bounced the right side of her minivan into the air, toppling the van onto the driver’s side.
According to Carr, a firefighter responded quickly to the accident and was able to help Carleton from the vehicle. Carleton was the only occupant and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Paris police, PACE and the Oxford and Paris fire departments responded to the accident.
