LEWISTON — Leon A. Hutchinson, 82, of Mexico, died early Monday, Dec. 10, at the Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 25, 1930, in Weld, a son of Earle and Myrtle (Houston)
Hutchinson. He attended and graduated from Weld school before enlisting in the U.S. Army and serving during the Korean War.
On Oct. 6, 1957, he married Sally Welch at the Mexico Congregational Church.
They made their home in Mexico as he worked and retired from Boise Cascade Paper Co. in 1991 after serving more than 35 years.
Leon was a former member of the Weld American Legion and greatly enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to play horseshoes, hunt, fish, snowmobile, garden and work with his tractor. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, Sally and playing cribbage.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sally of Mexico; his children, Shelly Martinez and her husband, Robert, of Danvers, Mass., Suzanne Hutchinson and her fiancé, Clifford Dollar, of Rumford and Mark Hutchinson and his wife, Kristie, of Readfield; six grandchildren, Patrick, Nicole, Ashley, Kasey, Erica and Molly; three great-grandchildren, Kaylani, Isabella and James; a sister, Minnie Blodgett of Carthage.
He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Lorin; and siblings, Arthur, Ernest and Vernon Hutchinson and Alice Tyler.
