LIVERMORE FALLS — The RSU 73 board is expected to name a new principal for the combined campuses of Spruce Mountain High School when it meets at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13.

The person recommended by Superintendent Robert Hall will begin their duties prior to the beginning of the 2013-14 school year. Students from the Jay and Livermore Falls high school campuses are expected to attend classes in Jay next fall.

Ten applications were received for the principal’s position. Five of those applicants were interviewed, board Chairwoman Denise Rodzen said.

Currently, Principal Steve Leunig is at the Livermore Falls school. Chris Hollingsworth is interim principal at the Jay campus.

In a related matter, the board is expected to act on a request to advertise for an assistant principal/athletic director position at the high school.

Other agenda items include holding closed sessions to evaluate the superintendent, and to discuss two grievances.

Final readings of several policies, such as recruiting and hiring administrative staff, use of physical restraint and student attendance, will be acted on, as will a reconsideration of the use by the public of school facilities.

Several adult education and other appointments will be made, and action taken on two proposed student trips.
