BRUNSWICK — A year ago, the Harlow Gallery in Hallowell partnered 14 artists with 13 CSA farms in Lisbon, Monmouth, Winthrop and other Central Maine communities. All through the 2012 growing season, participating artists visited farms and created art inspired by farmers’ lives, work, landscapes, challenges and ideals.

Their creations will be displayed in three final “CSA: Community Supporting Arts” exhibitions opening on Jan. 4 at the Maine Farmland Trust Gallery and UMaine’s Hutchinson Center, both in Belfast; and Jan. 11 at Frontier Cafe & Cinema Gallery in Brunswick.

The art show openings in Belfast will both be from 5 to 8 p.m. Maine Farmland Trust Gallery is at 97 Main Street; the University of Maine’s Hutchinson Center is at 80 Belmont Ave. Both shows are on view through Feb. 27.

In Brunswick, the exhibit opening will be from 5 to 8 p.m. at Frontier in the Fort Andross Mill, 14 Maine St. This exhibition will be on view through Feb. 24.

The 14 participating artists are Kate Barnes of Oakland, Susan Bickford of Newcastle, Aleana Chaplin and Matt Demers of Gardiner, Kim Christensen of Albion, Kerstin Engman of Liberty, Tyler Gulden of Walpole, Christine Higgins of Readfield, Kelsey Kobik and Emily Trenholm of Portland, Scott Minzy of Pittston, Maina Handmaker of Brunswick, Petrea Noyes of Lincolnville and Jamie Ribisi-Braley of Manchester.

The 13 CSA farms are Annabessacook Farm in Winthrop, Crescent Run Farm in Bremen, Dig Deep Farm and Goranson Farm in Dresden, Fresh Start Farms in Lisbon, Grassland Organic Farm in Skowhegan, Long Meadow Farm in Gardiner, Milkweed Farm in Brunswick, Morning Dew Farm in Newcastle, SNAFU Acres Farm in Monmouth, Treble Ridge Farm in Whitefield, Wholesome Holmstead in Winthrop and Winterberry Farm in Belgrade.

There are two other ongoing “CSA: Community Supporting Arts” exhibits: at Crosstrax Deli, 215 Depot St., Unity, through Jan. 26; and Savory Maine Dining and Provisions, 11 Water St., Damariscotta, through Feb. 5.

The goal of “CSA: Community Supporting Arts” is to promote and celebrate local art and local food cultures.
