Craft, social was held in Carthage

CARTHAGE — A free craft and social event for everyone was held Dec. 8 at the Carthage Town Office building. Many children came out to enjoy decorating sleds, color pages, bowling and puzzles.

Also the children received goodie bags and a toy that was donated by McDonald’s of Rumford. Everyone that went to the event enjoyed snacks, drinks and socializing.

The Carthage Events would like to thank all the volunteers that made the event possible, as well as McDonald’s for their donation.

Senior Citizens Club to meet

BETHEL — The Bethel Senior Citizens Club will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Bethel Methodist Church. Members will bring a dish to share and an item for the auction.

MEXICO — The Stephens High School Class of 1955 will meet at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the Chicken Coop for their regular monthly luncheon meeting.

Dempsey Center balance workshop

RUMFORD — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing is offering a free balance program for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. “It’s a Matter of Balance” will take place Wednesday, Jan. 9, from 3 to 4 p.m. at Rumford Hospital, Conference Room A.

Balance problems and falls can occur for cancer survivors as a result of the cancer treatments they have received. Some falls can lead to injuries and activity limitations.

Rhonda Norton, physical therapist with the Rumford Hospital, will facilitate an interactive session including balance screenings and physical therapy strategies for assessing and improving balance. Participants are asked to arrive at 2:30 if they want to participate in a screening.
