GORHAM — The University of Southern Maine’s School of Music 2013 spring schedule has been announced. First, “Hear My Song: The Best of Broadway and Beyond!” takes place at 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 25 (Saturday, Jan. 26 snow date) at Corthell Concert Hall, USM Gorham, with appearances by guest vocalist Marie Pressman and pianist Ed Reichert (USM faculty). This  exciting performance celebrates over 20 years of this duo’s unique musical collaborations in a memorable evening of song. Expect to hear works by such luminary musical theater and contemporary composers as Rodgers and Hammerstein, Irving Berlin, Adam Guettel, Maury Yeston, Jason Robert Brown, and Rufus Wainwright and their signature song, Tom Brown’s “Jonathan Wesley Oliver, Jr.” 

Next up at Corthell Concert Hall, is “Maine-ly British Brass: A Tribute to the Phillip Jones Brass Ensemble and the London Brass” at 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 8. The evening includes Betty Rines, trumpet, and friends, conducted by Peter Martin. Rines has assembled an outstanding group of USM faculty and alumni performing the best brass music in memory of the Phillip Jones Brass Ensemble of England.
