PORTLAND – The Maine Academy of Modern Music and Portland Music Foundation announce the opening of registration for the 2013 MAMM SLAM – Maine’s hottest high school battle of the bands. A platform for serious young bands to showcase songwriting, performance skills, web presence, marketing, signature appearance, and other aspects of being a professional touring and recording band.

Registration runs from Jan. 1-Feb. 14. Prelims will be held Mar. 30-31 at the Big Easy and Finals are Apr. 27 at Asylum, featuring a performance by The Fogcutters.

What’s in it for the winners? A cool 1K sponsored by the Rusty Rocket Foundation, along with coveted recording time, TV appearances, radio play, plum gigs and professional marketing direction. It’s time to ROCK — bands can register on www.mainetoday.com/mammslam.

“If you’re a serious young band, this is one of the best ways to gain exposure and network with local musicians and music industry professionals,” explained MAMM Executive Director Jeff Shaw. For more information, call 207-899-3433 or email info@maineacademyofmodernmusic.org.
