FARMINGTON — Barbara Hathaway, Franklin County Extension Homemaker, and her daughter, Cap. Brenda Thomas of the Schooner Isaac H. Evans, were invited by Jean Smith, Maine Extension Homemakers Council Representative for Knox and Lincoln Counties, to attended the Bristol Extension Homemakers meeting at the Bristol Mills Congregational Church.

Anne Batty, one of the organizers of the event, introduced Hathaway and Thomas. A gift was presented to Hathaway in appreciation of her work as MEHC president for 2010 though 2012.

The program was Birdie Googins, aka The Marden’s Lady, a Maine comedian seen on TV. Birdie calls herself “Maine’s Only Supermodel and Un-Registered Maine Guide.” Birdie is running for Queen and used her wand to make all the Extension Homemakers her ladies in waiting. Her perky smile and down-home humor had everyone bursting with laughter.

Refreshments prepared by the Extension Homemakers were enjoyed following the program.

Call the local county Cooperative Extension Office for more information about Extension Homemakers programs or how to become a member.
