PORTLAND (AP) — Police are on the lookout out for a purse-snatching bicyclist who has grabbed handbags from women walking along Portland streets.

Officials say a 54-year-old woman reported that she was talking on a cellphone at an intersection near downtown when a man rode up on a bike and grabbed the purse from off her shoulder, knocking her to the ground. She told police the man was wearing black clothing with a dark, hooded sweatshirt and was riding a black bike.

Police told the Portland Press Herald that a Scarborough woman said a cyclist rode past and grabbed her purse while she was walking along Commercial Street on Sunday night.
