FARMINGTON — Selectmen approved a recommendation from police Chief Jack Peck on Tuesday to hire a new patrolman.
Erik Candage, 24, of Levant, will begin his new duties Jan. 21, Peck said.
Candage has worked for the past two years as a security officer at the University of Maine at Orono. He earned an associate degree in criminal justice from Beal College.
“I like the small rural areas. It’s easier to get to know people,” Candage said.
He will attend the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in January 2014, Peck said.
