WILTON — Wilton Day Homemakers met on Jan. 10 at St. Luke’s Church with eight members and one visitor.

Volunteer papers need to be mailed to Lois King by the end of the month. Members are collecting letters from the Flags on Main Street project to send to the company that made the flags. The community service project for the year is Santa’s workshop; everyone is to bring in a gift for a man or woman for the project.

The program was on balance. Becky Tyler turned the program over to Anne Moody, Advisory Board member and Strong Learning and Sharing group member. Moody talked about balance, falls and older adults, risk and ideas to prevent falls in the home. How to get up after a fall was demonstrated by Tyler, narrated by Moody. Members also did a work out to go of wall push-ups, overhead raises, back leg raises, side leg raises, toe stand and standing on one foot, most of which are done holding onto a chair.

A potluck dinner was served.

The next craft day will be Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. at St. Luke’s Church. Participants will be knitting dish cloths. All are welcome to join; bring cotton yarn, size 8 needles and lunch. Upcoming craft days will be crocheting pot holders on Feb. 21, bracelets for babies in March and making cards in April.

The next meeting is Feb. 14 at 10 a.m. The program will be on the history of Valentines Day and Presidents Day. The leader will be Jean Rand. Dinner committee will be Hazel Flagg and Annette Spevak.
