In the spring of 2012, the city of Lewiston had an apartment building at 10 College St. pulled down and the debris hauled away. The building was an eyesore and a danger spot.

So now, that empty lot is covered in dog feces. And it isn’t just from dogs from the area. People from outside the area bring their dogs there to add more. Is that lot more safe now from danger (diseases)?

At least dog walkers aren’t taking their dogs on other property quite as much. Blake Street Towers has “no trespassing” signs posted and people still go on the property to have their dogs drop off their waste.

So what did the city really accomplish?
