LIVERMORE FALLS — A chimney fire that spread into the walls of a house at 7 Hillman Ferry Road on Sunday caused about $20,000 damage, fire rescue Chief Tim “TD” Hardy said Monday.
The owner’s name was not immediately available.
About 35 firefighters and 10 trucks from Livermore Falls, Jay and Livermore responded to the 11:36 p.m. call.
The homeowner fought the fire inside the older-style cape with a hose and had it pretty much out when firefighters arrived, he said.
The family was able to stay in the house, which is insured, Hardy said.
