AUBURN — Arthur L. Danforth Jr., 78, of Auburn, passed away Monday, Jan. 21, at Bolster Heights, with his family by his side.

He was born in Litchfield, Sept. 4, 1934, a son of Arthur and Edith (Burgess) Danforth. He grew up in the Litchfield area and attended local schools there. After high school, Arthur worked for J.P. Stevens and for many years following that he worked in the dye house at Camden Yarns, until his retirement.

Arthur was a past president of the Lewiston Singles Club. He was an avid New England sports fan, especially the Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots. He loved dancing every Sunday at the Lewiston Singles Club and was also very fond of country and western music and movies. He had a strong passion for cars, mostly his ’57 Bel Air and his “Henry J.”

Arthur is survived by his two daughters, Candace and Robin Danforth of Lewiston; a sister, Evelyn Webster of Buckfield; a brother, Erlon Danforth of Wales; he will be remembered by his two grandchildren, Josh and Angela Poulin; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra (Danforth) Laroque; and two sisters, Hildreth Hall and Mildred Dill.
