WISCASSET— Tyler Morangs’ 3-pointer at the buzzer led Winthrop to a hard-fought 55-53 victory over Wiscasset in a boys’ basketball game Tuesday.

Each team hit four shots from behind the arc. Winthrop’s Hunter Gregoire had two, and one each from Crispin Banda and the deciding shot from Tyler Morang.

Wiscasset had 3’s from Jennings Sousa, Austin Haskell, Thomas Anderson and Chandler Longfellow.

Both teams now are 7-6 on the season.

Mountain Valley 53, Carrabec 44

CARRABEC— A 21-point fourth quarter vaulted Mountain Valley (4-11) to a 53-44 victory over Carrabec (5-8) in a girls’ basketball game Tuesday night.

Down by four at halftime, the Falcons scored a whopping 32 points in the final two frames to pull out the win Brenna Brown of Mountain Valley and Jessica Vaillancourt of Carrabec each converted a 3-point shot.

Boothbay 60, Lisbon 34

LISBON — Morgan Crocker dropped in 15 points and Sarah Caron added 12 as Boothbay dismissed Lisbon (4-9) with a 60-34 victory in a girls’ basketball game Tuesday.

The Seahawks easily built a 30-13 halftime lead. Sara Durgan and Abby McLellan each scored 10 points for Boothbay.

The Seahawks went 16 for 19 at the free-throw line.

For Lisbon, Denise Thomas scored 11 points.

Boys’ hockey

Hebron 3, Kents Hill 2

HEBRON — Hebron Academy defeated Kents Hill School, 3-2, in a boys’ hockey game Tuesday.

The Lumberjacks scored two unassisted goals in the first period, one each from Austin Goldstein and Steve Donahue.Mike Kelly scored with an assist from Raphael Blouin for Kents Hill.

The Huskies had a first-period tally from Caleb Fizer, assisted by Jared Cockerell, and a third-period goal from Filip Akermark, assisted by Logan Day.

Goalies Ben Eddols of Kents Hill and Alex Bitsakis of Hebron combined for 70 saves.
