St. Dom’s 5, Biddeford 4

LEWISTON —Brad Berube’s goal with 3:10 remaining in overtime Monday night propelled St. Dom’s to a 5-4 Class A hockey win over Biddeford at Androscoggin Bank Colisee.

Senior assistant captain Kyle Holtet had a hat trick for the Saints (7-3-1), who came from behind twice in regulation. Caleb Labrie assisted three of the goals for St. Dom’s.

Grant Carrier made 22 saves in the St. Dom’s net.

Biddeford (5-6-1) jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Tyler Bellerose and Nate Crepeau in the first period. St. Dom’s got a crucial goal from Holtet with an assist from Labrie in the final minute to take some momentum into the locker room.

Holtet knotted the score at 3:40 of the second, courtesy of Berube and Bryan Bonenfant. The Tigers responded less than a minute later with Alex Ruck’s goal, and the 3-2 advantage held up until the second intermission.

St. Dom’s tied it again on Holtet’s third tally, this one on the power play at 8:24 of the third. It was the first of two goals in 43 seconds for the Saints, who nudged into the lead for the first time when Labrie set up Matt Chasse.

Niklas Lemieux scored with help from Crepeau on the power play with 4:32 left to force the extra session.

Brandon Daigle stopped 35 shots for Biddeford.

Boys’ basketball

Winthrop 61, Oak Hill 48

WINTHROP — Winthrop rained down five 3-pointers in a furious second-quarter run Monday night, paving the way to a 61-48 MVC boys’ basketball victory over Oak Hill.

Taylor Morang scored nine of his 12 points for Winthrop (9-6) in the second period, when the Ramblers outscored the Raiders 27-7 to build a 37-19 halftime lead.

Crispin Banda led all scorers with 14 points, including four shots from beyond the arc. He also made five steals. Hunter Kilgore added 12 points for Winthrop. Dakota Carter ripped down 10 rebounds.

Parker Asselin paced Oak Hill (5-10) with 12 points. Luke Washburn contributed 11.

Mtn. Valley 61. Mt. Abram 54

RUMFORD — Adam Volkernick hit six free throws in overtime Monday night, giving Mountain Valley the upper hand in a 61-54 MVC boys’ basketball win over Mt. Abram.

Jake Theriault led all scorers with 29 points for the Falcons (11-3). Ryan Nicols added 10 points and Volkernick notched nine.

Ian James led the Roadrunners (7-9) with 24 points. Andrew Withee chipped in 13.

Hall Dale 62, Lisbon 47

LISBON — Hall Dale’s fine offensive rebounding throughout, combined with Lisbon’s cold-shooting first period, led the Bulldogs to a 62-47 MVC boys’ basketball victory Monday,

Michael Woods topped Hall-Dale (9-6) with 19 points. Brian Allen added 16 and Bryson Camp chipped in with 10. Tucker Brannon led the Greyhounds (3-12) with 15.

Madison 62, Telstar 47

MADISON — Telstar played tough in a 62-47 loss to home-standing Madison in MVC boys’ basketball Monday night.

Austin Kane’s four baskets from beyond the arc keyed his 24-point effort, which led all scorers for Madison (9-7). Mike DelDuca led Telstar (1-14) with 18. Nick Mills netted 13.

Boothbay 74, St. Dom’s 36

AUBURN — Anthony DiMauro’s game-high 23 points, combined with John Hepburn’s 18, led Boothbay to a commanding 74-36 MVC boys’ basketball victory over visiting St. Dom’s.

Each squad hit for six 3 pointers, with Matt Dyer landing three of them for the Saints.

Girls’ basketball

Greater Portland Christian 48, Hebron 30

HEBRON — A tremendous 31-point first half propelled Greater Portland Christian Academy to a 48-30 girls’ basketball victory Monday evening.

Liv Brown of Hebron led all scorers with 21 points, but she was countered by eight different players in the scoring column for the Lions.

Elaine Beech led Greater Portland Christian with 16 points, and Clarissa Jones added 13 to seal the deal.

Oak Hill 46, Winthrop 20

WINTHROP —  Oak Hill jumped out to a 19-3 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in a 46-20 win over Winthrop in MVC girls’ basketball Monday.

Julie Morneault led the Raiders (8-7) with 11 points. Haley Marshall added nine. Cat Ouellette (1-14) had six for Winthrop.
