LIVERMORE FALLS – The Spruce Mountain Sled-In will be held at the Livermore Falls Recreation Field.

The event is new this year and is sponsored by the Livermore Falls Downtown Betterment Group and Main-Land Development Consultants, Inc., an organizer, Bob Berry, said Tuesday.

Initially the sled-in was set for March but was changed tentatively to Saturday, Feb. 23, from noon to 4 p.m., he said.

Livermore Falls Board of Selectmen gave approval for it on town land on Jan. 22, Town Manager Kristal Flagg said last week.

“We’re going to have kids sliding, an antique snowmobile show and lots and lots of food and hot drinks, and winter recreation vendors,” Berry said.

The planning is in the early stages, he said. Other ideas include snow sculptures.

Organizers are looking for volunteers to help during the event. They are going to be contacting the schools to see if students would like to be involved, Berry said.

They are also looking at holding a raffle, he said, with the proceeds to benefit snowmobile clubs: Andy Valley Riders in Jay, Livermore Trail Blazers in Livermore and Jug Hill Riders in Livermore Falls.

Anyone who has raffle items to donate should call Berry at 897-6752 at his office at Main-Land Development.
