RUMFORD — A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Robert J. “Bob” Gallant was celebrated Friday at Parish of the Holy Savior. Prior to the Mass, granddaughter Riley Gray played “Amazing Grace” on the violin. Fr. Raymond Picard was the celebrant. Jeremy Myles was the altar server. Mark Belanger was the organist. Music selections were “Be Not Afraid,” “Ave Maria,” “Fly Like a Bird,” “Wind Beneath My Wings” and “Because the Lord Is My Shepherd.” The Old Testament was proclaimed by niece Kim Gallant. The New Testament was proclaimed by sister-in-law Bev Gallant. Offertory gifts were presented by great-nieces Victoria Averill and Nikole Breau. Personal reflections written by daughter Heidi Gray and were read by son-in-law Dan Gray and Oxford County Sheriff Wayne Gallant. Pallbearers were Chief James Theriault, Mexico Police, Sheriff Wayne Gallant, Oxford County Sheriff’s Department, Capt. Christopher Wainwright, Oxford County Sheriff’s Department, and Lt. Roy Hodsdon, Mexico Police Department. Police Honors were rendered by Mexico Police Department and Explorers, Rumford Police Department, Dixfield Police Department, Oxford County Sheriff’s Department and Maine State Police. “Going Home” and “Amazing Grace” were played by bagpiper Rob Simmons from the South Portland Fire Department. Military Honors were rendered by the Air Force Honor Guard of Bangor. A reception served by the Daughters of Isabella was in the Parish Hall. Services were under the care and guidance of SG Thibault Funeral Home.
