PARIS — A few tickets are still available for the Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce dinner set for Saturday night. The keynote speaker this year is Allison Melangton, an Auburn native who was president and CEO of the 2012 Super Bowl Host Committee in Indianapolis.

The dinner is set for Feb. 23 at the Four Seasons Function Center in Paris. Williams said the social hour is at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 and the awards ceremony, which will recognize local individuals, businesses and nonprofits.

The 2013 Community Service Award winner is the Responsible Pet Care staff. The animal shelter in Norway originally took only cats, but started taking dogs in recent years, after Allen Hill Animal Shelter in Oxford closed.

Now, Responsible Pet Care is moving into a new building in Paris that will include a dog park and space for the growing number of animals housed in its crowded Norway building. The nonprofit has raised enough money for the building and is now raising additional funds for renovations.

The Oxford Casino, which opened in June, was named 2013 Business of the Year. The casino has about 420 full-time employees and donates to community groups such as the United Way and Stephens Memorial Hospital.

The 2013 Employee of the Year is Steve Holbrook, a teacher at Oxford Hills Christian Academy in Paris. Williams said Holbrook works hard at the academy, going above and beyond his responsibilities as a teacher. It’s the second year in a row that an educator has won the award. Last year, the employee of the year was Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School Principal Ted Moccia.

The 2013 Rising Star of the Year is ServiceMaster Fire and Water Restoration of Oxford, which came under the ownership of Carl Carlson and Steve Cox about two and a half years ago. Williams said they have made significant improvements since taking over, and Carlson has been a board member of the chamber for more than a year.
