AUBURN — Muriel L. Blais, 88, of Pleasant Street, Lewiston, died Monday, Feb. 25, after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.

Muriel also had an abiding love for nature and especially cats. Her feline companion for the past 16 years was an adorable Calico named “Callie.” Muriel’s other passion was shopping and searching for bargains.

Muriel was a lifelong member of Holy Cross Church, Telephone Pioneers of America, Covenant 55 and Horizon 55. She enjoyed her home and took great pride in decorating it at Christmas time.

She is survived by a sister, Solange “Sally” Croteau of Lewiston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband.

The family wishes to extend a special “thank-you” for the care and compassion shown to Muriel by the nurses and staff at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice as well as the nurses and aides who cared for her at home during her illness.
