RUMFORD — Shirley R. Farwell, 89, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Rumford Community Home. She was a resident of Virgin Street, Rumford. She was born in Rumford, Sept. 20, 1924, a daughter of Ambrose and Reta (Peabody) Milligan. She was a graduate of Stephens High School. She worked as a bookkeeper for George Cummings, Ralph Clark and the Rumford Hospital.

Shirley was a member of the Rumford United Methodist Church and the Eddington Salmon Club. She was a former member of the Rebbecas. She enjoyed fishing and painting.

She was married in Rumford, June 14, 1952, to Warren Farwell, who survives of Rumford. Other survivors include two brothers, Earl E. Milligan of Rumford and Merle Milligan and his wife, Katherine, of Florida; a sister, Nellie Burgess of Rumford; grandchildren, Roger and Karen White and their children, Makayla and Liza of Rumford; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased her siblings, Philip H. Milligan, Minnie May Hallett, Harold A. Milligan, Sabon P. Milligan, Carl E. Milligan, John F. Milligan, Barbara A. Noble, Loring A. Milligan and Allie W. Milligan.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Rumford Community Home for the care given to Shirley.
