NORWAY — John Joseph Harmon, 78, of Norway, passed away peacefully at home, with his loving family at his side, Friday, Feb. 8.

He was born in Brockton, Mass., May 28, 1934, son of Maurice G. Harmon and Mary Ann Rita (Herbert). He was a 1953 graduate of Whitman High School and in September 1954 he joined the Air Force, where he served his country proudly.

He took great pride in his expertise in all areas of interior and exterior surface preparation and covering. Some of his work has been published in four issues of Better Homes and Gardens.

John enjoyed politics, he was a staunch Democrat and supported gay rights and equality for all. He was the family historian and his family will miss his stories behind every family photo. He enjoyed music and would play his records on the old record player inspiring nieces and nephews to love a variety of music. We will be forever grateful. He enjoyed family parties and had great memories from Cary St., Myrtle Avenue and Surf Drive. He was a loving uncle and brother, we will miss his smile, his great sense of humor and his Santa belly laugh.

He is survived by his sister, Maureen Simmons; brother, Robert Harmon and wife, Leona; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Virginia Dwyer.
