NORWAY — Organizers of the  Norway Arts Festival, featuring the 46th annual Sidewalk Art Show, are calling for a broad spectrum of artists and artisans to exhibit their original creations Saturday, July 13.

The Western Maine Arts Group and Norway Downtown co-sponsor the annual festival. It will be held July 11-13. In addition to the sidewalk arts sale, the festival includes arts, crafts, dance, theater and live music, drawing thousands of people to the community.

Main Street is closed to traffic to create a pedestrian mall stretching from the Norway Memorial Library to the Advertiser Democrat Block at the corner of Pikes Hill Road.

Last year, more than 80 artists submitted entries in the Sidewalk Art Show. This year, more than 100 booths are expected to be set up.

Organizers said they are looking for artists to represent both 2D and 3D art works in painting, drawing, printing, photography, wood, metal, glass, fiber, jewelry, furniture and more.

The event is a juried show and cash prizes will be awarded in several categories. There is also a Purchase Awards Program that offers sponsorship of artwork by individuals and businesses, and it awards ribbons to artists.

Applications for the Sidewalk Art Show mailed by April 1 receive the “early bird” discount fee.

More information about registration and fees is available at the Norway Arts Festival website at www.norwayartsfestival.org, or the Western Maine Art Group website at www.westernmaineartgroup.org.
